Man, my cousin is so much fun to hang out with. Not only are we extremely close in age, but we also have a lot of the same personality traits. I know that there are plenty of people who aren’t that close with their cousins, so I feel fortunate to have a cousin with who I can get along so well.

Before this month, the last time I had seen my cousin was Christmas. Since we live in different states, we don’t get to see each a lot, but we also make sure to make the most of the opportunities that we get.

As I was trying to decide what I wanted to do with my three day weekend (as a result of the President’s Day holiday), I realized that it would be a ton of fun to go to Chicago and hang out with my cousin for the weekend. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to find an affordable flight, but not only did I track down a reasonable flight price online, but I also found a discounted Chicago car rental (which meant that I was able to surprise my cousin by driving directly from the airport to her house).

I can’t wait for April to arrive. The reason that I’m so excited for a month that is still awhile away is because someone in my family is getting married. Since I don’t know if you would be able to guess who it is, I will go ahead and tell you: it’s my sister! My sister and I have always been extremely close since we were little girls, and because of this, I get to be her maid of honor. As any girl will tell you, being asked to be the maid of honor in a wedding is the next best thing to actually getting married.

Although there are a ton of fun things that go along with being the maid of honor, it is also a position that requires a whole lot of work. Because of this, I have been quite busy in the past months, and I know that I will only continue to get more busy up until the day of the wedding. Since my sister is having her wedding in Chicago, most all of us who are attending have had to make travel arrangements to get to that city. For example, I have already arranged for my car rental and flight, and I also made the reservation for the hotel where just about all of my family members will be staying.

Because the majority of my family lives in Chicago, that is where I will be going for this holiday season. Although I currently live in Seattle, Chicago will always be the place that I call home. The reason that I call Chicago home instead of Seattle is because I spent the first eighteen years of my life growing up in Chicago. It wasn’t until I left for college that I moved away from Chicago for the first time. After college, I ended up with a job in Seattle, and although Seattle is a city that has really grown on me over time, when I’m ready to start a family (which will still be awhile, since I’m just in my early twenties), I want to move back to Chicago to do this.

My reasoning for wanting to go back to Chicago when I start my family is not only because I am attached to the city itself (although this is a big part of it), but also because I want my other family members to be involved in my children’s lives. Anyways, this is all awhile away, so what I really need to focus on right now is finding a rental car online for my upcoming trip to Chicago!

Just over two months ago, I took my wife and kids for a week long trip to Chicago. Yes, you read that correctly; we all got to go to Chicago together for an entire week.
