Traditionally, the way rental car companies have worked is if you return a car with a tank that isn’t full, when they refill it, they will charge you for up to twice the amount of the standard price of gas. However, Hertz has decided that instead of gouging the price of gasoline, it will now refill its rental cars and only charge customers the standard price of local gas, along with a seven dollar service fee.
